Ready for your adventure by rail along the Trans-Mongolian route? Start the journey in Helsinki and climb onboard the overnight train to Moscow on a Sunday evening.
Upon arrival in Moscow, you are transferred from the train station to your hotel.
Free day to explore Moscow on your own. Visit Red Square, The Kremlin, Arbat Street or go even further with the Moscow Metro. In the evening depart by train towards Irkutsk (4 berth compartment).
Hop on the train on Tuesday evening! Besides watching some amazing scenery along the way, make sure to bring along a lot of reading material to pass the time on the train. The train will make small scheduled stops along the route where you will have the possibility to buy food from the local vendors.
Early arrival in Irkutsk on Saturday morning, approximately around 05:00. Transfer to the village of Listvyanka, an old Russian fishing village at the shores of Lake Baikal, approximately 70 km from Irkutsk with accommodation at Hotel Baikal or similar. The journey takes approximately one hour by car. There will be plenty of time to walk around and you might even try some freshly smoked omol, a very special fish that is a symbol of Lake Baikal itself. You will also have the opportunity to visit the Limnological Museum and see a vast variety of interesting things that can be found around the lake.
Transfer back in to Irkutsk on Sunday to see more of this intriguing city. Overnight stay in Hotel Victory or similar.
Hop back on the train for some more leisurely time and amazing scenery.
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar on Tuesday morning where you will be met at the railway station and taken out to the countryside to Terelj National Park, approximately 70 km from Ulaanbaatar by bus/car. We will take a look at the famous Turtle Rock and visit a nomad family to discover more about their lifestyle, which is bound in deep tradition. After lunch it will be possible to enjoy horseback riding, but for better prices it is recommended that you arrange this by yourselves on the spot. Overnight stay in a yurt - a traditional Mongolian hut/tent. A true experience!
After breakfast back to Ulaanbaatar and UB Guest House for overnight stay.
Departure by train on Thursday morning. The last part of your journey to Beijing begins (4 berth compartment).
Arrival in Beijing approximately at midday, around 11:40.
With this packaged tour including accommodation, visa application documents such as invitational letters and itineraries will be provided for you, however, you still need to apply for the necessary visas yourself.
