With a multitude of stunning locations to visit and wide variety of activities to do, anyone who visits Sabah will find something that will be truly unforgettable. The most notable hotspot is Mt. Kinabalu a popular destination for travelers who enjoy a challenging hike and stunning views, besides this there are many nature conservation areas to visit such as Danum Valley where guests can do all sorts of nature walk, camping, multidays trekking. Looking for the ocean? There are also many coastal hotspots which are perfect for snorkeling, diving and more. The fun doesn’t stop there, Sabah’s tourism board is also focused on preserving the environment they are promoting and for those travelers who are keen to learn and help there are Educational/Volunteer Tourism programs to join, a great way to both enjoy and learn about the stunning areas and help to make sure it stays stunning for years to come.

Kota Kinabalu
Kota Kinabalu is the capital of Malaysia’s Sabah state in the northern region of the island of Borneo. Often referred to as KK, it’s a coastal city partly surrounded by rainforest. It's known for its bustling markets, beaches and waterfront. It is also a gateway to Kinabalu National Park, home of the 4,095m-highest peak in Malaysia Mount Kinabalu and the islands of Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park.

Kinabalu Park
Kinabalu Park is famed to be Malaysia first UNESCO World Heritage site, dated back the year 2000. The park is in the state of Sabah, in the northern end of the island of Borneo, dominated by the 4095 metres peak of Mount Kinabalu. The uniqueness of the park, are the wide range of habitats, from rich tropical lowland and hill forest to tropical mountain forest, sub-alpine forest and scrub on the higher elevations. It covers 75,370 hectares, with Mount Kinabalu being the highest peak between the Himalaya and New Guinea. The park offers a long list of plants with over 5000 species that can be found here; to name few, the infamous Nepenthes rajah; the world’s largest pitcher plant and the enigmatic Paphiopedilum Rothschild Anum (Rothschild slipper orchid) one of the rarest orchids in the world.

Sepilok
Famous for the Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre, established in 1964, Sepilok is located in the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve, a mixed dipterocarp forest, natural home to the Orang Utan. Sepilok is one of the locations where the sight of the ape can be guaranteed daily, especially if assisting at one of the two feeding session (one in the morning and one in the afternoon).

Day 1: Kota Kinabalu

You will be picked up from Kota Kinabalu Airport and transferred to Kota Kinabalu. Please note that this is transfer only and stops along the way are not included.

Day 2: Kota Kinabalu

Enjoy a day of sun, sea, and sand on an island of Tuanku Abdul Rahman Marine Park off Kota Kinabalu. You will depart by boat at 08:00, from Sutera Harbour Marina, for a day of relaxation. You will snorkel in crystal clear water among coral reefs and rainbow-colored fishes. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Towel, hat, swimwear, sunblock lotion, personal equipment, etc.

Day 3: Kota Kinabalu - Kundasang, Ranau

Explore Kinabalu Park from the perspective of a botanist, looking at the structure, ecology, and economical importance of some of the plants forming this unique park. You will be picked up from your hotel in the morning, and drive from Kota Kinabalu to 5,000 feet above sea level, at the foothills of Mt. Kinabalu. A short stop at the roadside stalls at Nabalu Market to savour some exotic fruits before continuing to visit the Education Centre and Mountain Garden located at Kinabalu Park headquarters. Time and weather permitting, take a guided walk on one of the trails in the serene surroundings to observe the montane forest. At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to the hotel. You will be picked up from Kota Kinabalu and transfered to Kinabalu National Park. Please note that this is transfer only and stops along the way are not included.

We have arranged the Deluxe room at Hotel Shangri-La for your stay. This 250 square foot room offers a panoramic view of Kota Kinabalu city with the islands of Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park in the horizon. The hotel has all the modern amenities you would come to expect, including satellite
television, coffee and tea making facilities, and wireless internet. Safety deposit boxes are available at the Front Desk.

Kinabalu Pine Resort’s wooden cabins are fully built using the exclusive Selangan Batu hardwood. Located a 15 minutes drive away from Kinabalu Park entrance, with all the cabins with wide open porches facing Mount Kinabalu.

Tanini Sepilok (Dorm Room)
Situated close to the Rehabilitation center the Nature Lodge is an ideal place to stay if you want to have comfortable style accommodation whilst being close to the Orangutans. Featuring fully equipped spacious rooms or hostel beds, anyone who comes to the Nature Lodge will be met with lovely service and cozy room. The lodge grounds are also nice and spacious with a large garden where you can relax.

Sepilok Forest Edge Resort (Standard Chalet)
Sepilok Forest Edge Resort comprises of Stylish Malay Design Chalets and a Longhouse around lush green surroundings and hills as a backdrop which further embraces an incredible view. Each Chalet is built with recycled woods. The wood panels are originally from Chinese houses that was built in the 1940's which you will still see when you are on the way to Sepilok. Depending on which Chalets you have, the rooms are inspired by the minimal design of the locals and have both indoor and outdoor showers, which will bring you back to life's basic necessities. You will first be invited by traditional Malay doors that have a wooden block that slide through both handles as a lock. Upon entering your room, you will be greeted by Bubuh Lights and Lantern, which are inspired from both the Malay and Chinese culture. Each room is decorated with local drawings, handmade natural art pieces, or pictures of old Sandakan. We are second to RDC in Sepilok area in terms of birding and other wildlife opportunities. Broadbills, Kingfishers, Pittas and many more are residence here. Orangutan do drop by to checkout our fruit trees occasionally. These happenings are result of minimum destruction in our development. It's a playground here if you are a nature enthusiast.
