Learn your skills in the confined water of the pool at our resort, then venture out into the blue and warm water surrounding the Gili Islands. You will find that this destination provides you the absolutely best conditions imaginable for your first experience in the great world of diving! The abundance of fish found in the waters around Gili Trawangan will not disappoint any diver. Indonesia is home to more than 3,000 species of marine life and on the Gili Islands you will surely witness a great number of these species.
Some of the greatest fish seen during diving and snorkeling are white tip reef sharks, turtles, cuttle fish, moray eels, and leaf scorpion fish. Huge schools of fish move around the dive sites. For the diver more interested in coral, great rock formations at the deeper sights offer world class coral, some of the best in the world. There are sites here suitable for all levels of divers and a lot of dive sites to choose from. The distance between the dive center and all the dive sites is very short. You will have plenty of time to relax on land between all dives.
Above water Gili Trawangan is a backpacker mecca. The island is very relaxed and laid-back, with countless little beachside cafes playing reggae and serving up banana pancakes, but also at the other end of the scale, elaborate seafood buffets, fresh salads and very good western and Asian food. Best of all, there are no cars or motorbikes to disturb the peace. The white sand beaches are without
a doubt better than anywhere on Bali or Lombok. There is a strong environmental focus on the reefs after they have been damaged in the past. While once people came to dive, snorkel and party, a more up-market tourist is showing up now and while it is still all about the beach, there are many more options to wine and dine or hang out and meet new friends.
The SSI Open Water Diver course is one of the most popular diving certificate worldwide. After completing this 3-4 day course you are certified to dive to 18 m independently with a buddy.
The course consists of five modules of learning. You study via self-study workbook and complete a knowledge review. This process is assisted by videos accompanying each chapter to reinforce what you have learned. The instructor reviews everything with you to ensure that everything are confidently understood. The practical learning consists of pool sessions and four open water dives. Dive one and two are conducted at a depth of max 12 meters and dive three and four are conducted at max 18 meters. The final stage of the SSI Open Water course is an exam, which is a multiple choice exam covering all that you have learnt. Remember that the course is performance based and not time based. The course generally takes 3 to 4 days, with the theoretical, the pool and the open water part successfully passed.
DIVE PACKAGE:
